Energy Ministry suggests privatization of gas distribution assets

MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- The Energy Ministry has prepared a bill allowing to privatize gas distribution and consumption infrastructure, Deputy Minister Pavel Sorokin said at a meeting with the Federation Council, parliament's supreme chamber, on Monday.

"A draft federal law making amendments to the law on privatization of state and municipal assets in the area of gas distribution and gas consumption networks has been prepared and sent to the federal executive authorities," Sorokin said.

He said that the state owns many gas supply infrastructure units, which require a lot of maintenance and repair payments.
